Lynn is proud to be considered a catalyst for other aspiring women in the world of recreational fly fishing, and also enjoys instructing men and children of all ages and skill levels.
Kelly Smith:
Captain Kelly Smith is a charter captain with over 25 years of experience. He grew up in Portland, CT on the Connecticut River where his love of boats began at the ripe old age of 12. Eventually Kelly became a first mate aboard a charter boat where they fished the coastal waters of Connecticut and Rhode Island. He earned his captains license in 1989. Then became captain of the first C-Devil, a 22’ Grady White where he took clients fishing in pursuit of game fish. In 1993 he acquired the second C-Devil, a 26’ Fortier. In 1996 he traded the Fortier for the 32’ Topaz known today as the C-Devil II. Kelly and his wife Lynn co-own C-Devil II Sportfishing, Inc.
Kelly uses his knowledge of tides, currents and local knowledge to provide clients with the finest and most productive fishing experience. He is a full time fisherman and earns his living on the water. Whether it’s taking kids out for fluke or striped bass or fishing commercially, because of Kelly’s love of being out on the water there is no other place he’d rather be.
He has been a member of the Rhode Island Party and Charter Boat Association since 1993 and served as secretary from 1997 to 2009. Kelly’s photographs have appeared on the covers of various fishing magazines such as Nor’ East Saltwater, The New England Fisherman and Rhode Island Fishing Magazine.
During the off season Kelly is busy working hard in Costa Rica expanding the business. Phase one has been completed; the lodge. Clients will be able to stay at the lodge and participate in various excursions such as fishing, zip lines, atv tours and more. Phase two is acquiring a vessel in which to guide clients in pursuit of Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado Roosterfish and more. So stay tuned, you’ll never know what else he’ll be getting into.
