C-Devil II ready for another season.
RE: Fishing
Hi Capt.
Merry Christmas. Yes we will be getting in touch. I actually bought this as a gift to my father, brother, brother-in-law,
and son so they were very happy! I have to give credit to Peter Nicola though for recommending you. I live next to his
sister and she told me how much he enjoys going out with you and the team - and anyone who would drive from New
Jersey to fish on our shores must really be impressed (although I personally think we have the best fishing around).
We will be contacting you with dates soon.
Take care and Happy New Year,
Keri
To:Capt. Kelly C-DEVIL II SPORTFISHING INC.
This Operation is First Rate!!!
My family and I have been vacationing in Point Judith for many years, with the highlight of our trip being fishing. We
experimented with several charter services the first two years, and were minimally satisfied with our experience with
them. Then we found Captain Kelly and C-Devil II Sportfishing. We have been repeat customers ever since (five years
running, and have already booked our 2011 trip.) These folks are very good at what they do.
The boat is immaculate, the Captain and mate are very knowledgeable and accommodating, and (most important),
they know how to find and catch fish! I would recommend this boat and Captain to anyone. Seasoned fisherman or first
time out, you will not be disappointed.
The rates for chartering the C-Devil are very reasonable. I don't bother looking into other charters anymore, because I
know we will get our money's worth on the C-Devil. We always catch our limit and return with a cooler full of perfectly
cleaned and filleted fish. Keep in mind that, just as with all charter boats, the mate, Jay (the guy who prepares all the
gear, baits your hooks, educates you on how to catch the fish, cleans your fish for you, loads and unloads all your gear,
along with all of his other behind the scenes duties) is paid separately from the published cost of the trip. Twenty
percent of the cost is customary, and his skills are worth every penny. Both he and Captain Kelly go above and beyond
to insure your comfort and safety, and they really want you to catch fish.
If you are looking for an enjoyable day of fishing (and catching) look no further than C-Devil ll Sportfishing. Go ahead,
book the trip with them. Believe me, you will be glad you did. Hey, and who knows, you might even make it to C-Devil's
on-line photo album ...we did!
Enjoy your trip!
Diane
Capt kelly
My family and friends had a great trip catching stripers and blues in early September. The Capt and first
mate knew exactly what they were doing and where to go to catch fish. We left before dawn and had a
beautiful sunrise on the fast rip off block Island. Within 15 minutes at location we had our first strikes
and within an hour everyone had caught something. By the end of the morning, we had several stripers
better than 35 Ibs and at least 6 other as well as a few catch and release .. Since we had a few blues
lovers (I know??) in the family we switched to the lee side and caught enough of those for the winter
stews. Seas were heavy and the Capt handled the boat well to let us continue to fish. The first mate
was great, handled us novices well, and was very skilled in filleting the fish while the boat was going 20
knots in rough seas.
Do it again? DEFINITELY!

Hi Captain Kelly,
Sadly our time in Rhode Island has come to an end, and we are all back to the grind of life as usual. We all
independently travel frequently throughout the year, but the trip that I look most forward to every year is the one that just
ended. It is great to get the family together and enjoy a week in each others' company. The highlight of our week in RI for
me is, of course, always fishing. Once again, we all had a terrific time fishing with you on the C-Devil. We all enjoyed
meeting Jay also and appreciated all of his assistance. Now I will spend the next 360 some days in anticipation of the
next family trip. I am working on scheduling a November trip with you for Blackfish, and it may only be Harry and I, but am
not prepared to book just yet. My thoughts are learning toward the days surrounding the Veterans Day Holiday, Nov 12,
or 13. How's your schedule?
As requested, I have attached the picture of Jill acting crazy with the fish. She is a funny gal, huh? (She's probably my
second favorite thing about the trip) If you do publish it, I would love to see a copy. If it is available on-line, please send
me a link. If it is not available electronically, please let me know how I might purchase a couple of copies.
Gotta go get dinner started now, Harry will be home soon. Striper is on the menu tonight!
Talk to you soon.

Dear Capt Lynn:
I'm writing to you to tell you how much my twins, Kevin and Karen, and myself enjoyed
our day on your boat August 7th
.I've done a lot of fishing in my years and I must say it was by far the most enjoyable day
I ever had. Karen will marry soon and move to North Dakota, so I do not know when I
will ever have another chance to hear her laugh like that again.
Last year I went out with you with my oldest son and had a great time so I tipped you
$100. I was told by my friend that I was nuts for paying a captain a tip who had no mate.
As a result of his influence I did not give one this year and it has been bothering me. You
did so much for us beyond being captain and I gave nothing extra.
Enclosed is a check for $100. This is a tip for your hard work that brought my twins and
myself such a memorable day. You must be sick of seeing so many fish so use it to take
your husband out for a well-deserved steak.
Sincerely,
John Lizack

Good Morning Lynn & Kelly,
Just a real quick note of appreciation for yesterday! I really enjoyed myself as did the cameramen I'm sure. It was a
pleasure working with both of you and I look forward to additional days on the water formatting articles and shooting TV
Shows. When I said you both have an open door to call on meat any time I meant it... ..so PLEASE never hesitate to call
or email me to encourage me to come and film for another TV Show, etc. Playing the TV Show in your booths will be a
real plus, as it will be to be aired on TV.
I like the idea of late October-November for the Black Fish and Kelly I have NOT ruled out the Shark show either. Give me
some additional information on the trip, time of day, length of trip, etc and I will start thinking about what works for us and
our schedule.
Be sure to stay in touch with Don as to your needs in the taping editing and I'm sure you will find Don very
accommodating.
Once again, thanks you both and have a great week.
God Bless,
Billy "Hawkeye" Decoteau
Hello Peter,
Just a quick note to inform you we finally were able to get out on the water and shoot the Saltwater TV Show in Rhode
Island, near Block Island.
We talked about the BioEdge scent some on the show, and utilized the Eel and the Sandworm exclusively since these
was the primary bait in the area. We show us applying the potion scent and then the wand. I will get some pictures when
they are download and a copy of the TV Show once it is edited.
The two Charter Boat Captains were:
Captain Lynn Smith of the Lil' Devil II www.cdevilsportfishing.com
Captain John Planeta of Franks Live Bait www.FranksLiveBait.com
Both Captains were extremely helpful and willing to help us promote BioEdge during the entire filming process. I have
divided the BioEdge scents you sent me between both Captains for their usage. Captain John has a professional Bait &
tackle Shop his dad established many years ago and is very well known throughout the local CT, MA and RI region.
Captains Lynn Smith and her husband Kelly not only run the charters we did, within the calmer waters as on Captain
Lynn's 24' Triton. Her husband Kelly is an expert on deep water Tuna, Sharks and many other species as well and a
highly respected Captain among his peers.
Please be sure to check out both web sites as their professionalism and kindness during our entire trip was greatly
appreciated. We caught Bluefish, Striper's, and Fluke all within 7 miles of Point Judith, RI.
Once again, I greatly appreciate your sending the wonderful BioEdge products as do the Captains, I look forward to
speaking with you soon and sending you the pictures as well.

great time
Kelly-
We had a great time on our charter on Thursday. You and your mate are courteous and professional, and set the bar
high for other charter operations. It's nice to be in the company of people who genuinely seem to enjoy what they are
doing.
You have a first class mate - he did an exceptional job filleting the catch, with nice attention to detail. His work station
was always clean, and he took the extra time to carefully clean and trim each fillet.
The fish was awesome - had the fluke that night, the next day I roasted the blues and a couple of bass fillets with a little
butter, olive oil, carmelized onions and garlic. Yum. Fresh fish always tastes better than frozen ...
I could go on, but you get the picture. Hope to see you on another charter some time. Good luck with the Costa Rica
operation.
Sincerely,
J.P. Kennedy

Thanks for another great fishing trip. We went out with you the afternoon of
July 10th, and caught almost all Bass. You mentioned that the "big" ones
run better in May & June. The 6 of us talked about it, and would like to
reserve the first Sunday afternoon in June for another trip. Please reserve it
for us and let me know how much you need for a deposit to hold that date. I
don't have a 2011 calendar to determine the exact date. It should be around
the 5th or 6th of June.

I and the boys had an awesome time!! We really did. Please extend our appreciation as well to Kelly and Jay. We want to book another one sometime in August. What do you think? If you give me some dates I’ll tell the others on board. I grilled the fish tonight. There was more than I could handle. (That was just my quarter of the take!
Great with pepper and olive oil and onto the grill it went. I know it was a real treat for us. Anyway, thanks again.
See you in the A.M.

Subject: Great Day
Hi, I was on your charter on memorial day and had a great time. The stripped bass is excellent, I had some from the freezer again last
night and it was great! Like you said, I put some lemon pepper and mayo on it and grilled it up! Last night I put some lemon pepper
on it and coated it in olive oil and onto the grill. Great! Thanks again! Jim
James McAuliffe
Thanks for such a great trip! We all had a great time! What would you have open for a tuna trip end of Aug?
Hi Captain Kelly,
Just wanted to send you a note to let you and Pete how much we all enjoyed our day fishing with you. You have
a beautiful boat, so clean and well organized. We all felt very comfortable aboard The C-Devil ii. We all had a
great day of fishing with you both. We had never "jigged" for the fish before. That was terrific fun. Thanks for the
Bluefish recipe ...that turned out to be absolutely delicious!! I will never hesitate to keep them again. Prior to this
trip, I thought they were only good for bait. The Stripers were mighty tasty too. I have not tried Pete's Fluke
recipe yet, (good lobster bisque is not as readily available here in Northeast PA), but I am sure I can come up with
something.
We will definitely book another trip with you next year- God willing we are all able to return to Point Judith.
Thanks so much for a great day of fishing.

Hey Capt.,
Thanks for a great trip this past Tuesday. Our customer really enjoyed themselves as we all did. I do have another customer that
I would like to take out. Let me know what you have for openings so we can see what might work for everyone. If you could also
have your mate send over the pictures he took. I would like to put something together for my customer to hang on their office

Simply the BEST!
We have been booking our annual Tuna, Shark and Black Fish trips with Captain
Kelly for 6 years now and in my opinion you need not look any further to find a first
rate Captain, boat and crew. we have never been disapointed even if the fish were
not as cooperative as one would like. Thanks again for a great day on the water!
See you in '09.

Thanks very much for getting us out today and for working so hard to get us onto fish that were not aggressive.
We had a really good time. Talk to you in the spring. If you have a tuna list, please put me on it. I can get a
group together when the fish are there.
Have a great winter in Costa Rica.

Hi Kelly:
We all enjoyed meeting you, Lynn and Peter, and want to thank you for a
great day on Tuesday. Too bad about the makos, but that's the way it
goes sometimes. We got some good footage for the video series, and
plenty of photos for an article.
In the chinese fire drill on the dock at the end of the day I forgot to
mention to you and Lynn that we didn't get enough striper footage in
Connecticut for a complete video segment - in other words, we didn't
get any fish big enough to make it interesting. As a result, we're
going to have to do another striper trip before the end of the season,
and we'd be happy to do it with Lynn if she's interested and has the
time. With a little notice we can be pretty flexible on open dates for
her - the sooner the better. Let me know. Best regards.

Thank's for a great time night fishing, that was a great trip. The rest of the week we caught mostly Fluke, all short 17" to 18" no
Bass near shore. Strange thing here is that there is a lot of Bass around and very few Bluefish, lots of bunker this week in Milford

Lynn Smith - Rhode Island Fishing / Fly Fishing Guide
10/20/20066:33:19 PM Eastern Daylight Time
Mike;
As we discussed this afternoon, here is the website link for Lynn Smith, one of the premier fishing guides here in New England,
not to mention, female fishing guides. She has also written a number of articles for various forms of print over the past few
years.
[As an FYI, Lynn's husband, Kelly, also runs a charter business and they share a website together.]
Lynn has been guiding for seven years and has operated her charter business as one of Triton's Pro-Staff in her Triton 2486
CC for the past two.
As you well know, becoming a Triton Pro-Staff is an extremely selective and competitive process. In fact, I think that she just
may be one of the only female saltwater Pros that Triton has on its staff. She is one of only five Pro-Staff that I currently have
within the Northeast, and I am including my freshwater business.
In addition, as I mentioned to you over the phone, she just finished filming a TV show with Shaw Grigsby, creator and host of
"One More Cast" fishing show. This TV show is in over 70 million homes on the OLN Network and is rated as being the #1
fishing show in the US, four years running.
Lynn Smith is the first "female" guest-host that Shaw has filmed/fished with and the show that we just finished today, will be part
of "One More Casts" 11th season and airing sometime this winter or spring.
I am listing the link to Shaws website and show below, as well.

Went offshore on the C-Devil " with Capt. Smith and much apprehension due to my late inclusion in
to this fishing party of notable fly stingers (Ron Gedney, Bruce Marino, and Dick Trembly).
BUT FIRST, A big thanks to Joe Canz for the opportunity for me to shame my fellow fishers.
Superior skill and plain good looks resulted in my rod being the only one bent by a BFT. Don't listen
to the others attempt to describe my feat as luck. I adopted a stealthy position in the starboard chair,
eyes closed to better concentrate, and allowed my fly to remain stationary until Mr. Tuna found it.
After a brilliant struggle, I overcame the tuna's fight and into the boat it came.
obtw, it was also the largest (Kelly jigged up 2 in an attempt to get other tunas to follow the hooked
one up to shallower water.)
But seriously folks, we had a perfect day on the water with lots of sunshine and some major ball
busting. Good friends, good food, good weather, and a good boat is always the formula for a good
time.

Thought this went out but here goes again:
Went to sea today with Capt Kelly Smith and two stalwart (until they turned into rats, more later) companions.
The quest: Sharks
A 3 hour run to a spot Kelly had found the finned creatures over the last week gave us plenty of time to anticipate our
encounters. After stopping for some bluefish (it sucked to be a bluefish today) we proceeded to the fish point. Kelly has a
clever method of utilizing the blues to call the sharks to lunch (I told you it was a bad day for the bluefish). About 30
minutes after the scene was set, along came a 50lb Mako. Not paying us any mind, it bothered the teasers until it was
wandering around the boat looking for handouts. It finally got around to my fly and I was connected to my first Mako. For
the first couple of minutes it floundered around the surface and I thought this is the mighty Mako? I had caught fluke that
fought better. Well ... best guess is it didn't know it was hooked, because after those brief moments of delusion (mine) it
took off for points unknown. Several times I got it to the boat, but it was having· none of that and off it went again. Just
when I thought 'I've got you now, the hook pulled and game Mako.
Steve Currier joined Mark Lewchik on deck and I went to the flying bridge for a different vantage point. Thing got real
interesting when a Mako about 3 times the size of mine showed up, but it lost interest and left before we got a good shot
at it.
We continued working the chum slick and after a while 3 blue sharks arrived, milling about the boat. We watched 100lb
blue pointedly ignore Mark's fly, but managed to snag itself on it's starboard pectoral fin attempting to avoid it. Off it went
with Mark trying to turn the fish. Backing/fly linelbacking again. You get the picture. All of a sudden the fly pulls loose
and we have our second distant release. Meanwhile Steve is watching the other two blue sharks ignore his fly. I
graciously offer my rod, with the fly used to hook the Mako. A couple of strips later, he is onto a blue Kelly estimates at
just under 200lbs. In/out, in/out the battle goes. 45 minutes later the shark is about done (Steve got there earlier) and
has been to the transom several time. Each time the blue bolts when it feels the tailing loop. Once again, the line goes
slack. This time the tippet parted just above the wire. Drat, there went my finely crafted, superiorly performing ..
masterpiece.
We came back to out starting point and that is when the tragedy occurred (see earlier reference to rats). There was Mark
and I trying hard to entice a nice blue that made a point of looking at, then refusing, our flies .. The mate was at my corner
of the transom with the chumming bucket when the unthinkable happened. Somehow my fly landed in the bucket and got
Contaminated with various liquids. Later investigation revealed one of the toxic substances was Menhaden Oil. What to
do, cut off the fly and start anew or rinse the fly off in the water. I think I chose the proper course of action by returning
the fly to the water in a selfless attempt to cleanse the fly. Several moments later I was unsuccessful in preventing the
blue from eating my fly. As a result I have suffered the outrageous barbs slung by Steve and Mark accusing me of
violating the sacred fly fishing rule of not scenting the fly. They even promised to rat me out at the picnic. Honest judge,
I never meant it to turn out this way.
Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa.
And yes, my ending with this blue was a mirror image of the earlier fights. snap. This time the
tippet had·signs of abrasion near the break.
To:Capt. Kelly
Had the pleasure to fish with 'Lynn and Kelly Smith
aboard C Devil Il. We started off at 5 am headed
toward Kelly's favorite shark spot where he
has been fishing for a couple weeks. After
an hour or so of setting up a chum line,
we encountered several blue sharks. I hooked
one estimated at 300 Ibs. and after a short fight
pulled the hook from his mouth. And of course like
usual, sat down to have a sandwich and all
hell broke loose. Makos around the boat.
Made several casts and finally hooked up to
a 125 lb. mako. After several jumps and 35 min.
later, I landed him. Sat down and finished my
sandwich and voila, blue sharks around the boat.
Made 3 casts and hooked up again. Needless to
say I had a great day with Lynn and Kelly aboard
the C Devil II. They are great captains and hosts.
(note to Mike L.-no special juices added). .
We were accompanied by Greg and Paul Ferruolo
and their mate aboard Mr. Sparkle. With
them was master videographer and owner of
Red Quill productions. Some great footage captured.
Thanks to all who made this a very enjoyable experience.
Sharks on a fly is a blast! I will do it again shortly.

Hi Ed,
My family had such a great time with you and Kelly on the 17th of
August, that I just wanted to send off a little note to you and enclose
a copy of the photo that I had enlarged of you and the "crew".
I plan to frame this for Michael for Christmas. That Michael is such a
great kid, and as you could see, an avid fisherman.
He began with us in his play-pen onboard, sucking his binkie, eating Gerber
foods, when he was just a little baby. It paid off- He can't get enough of
the fish, lures, water, and birds!
This trip was his 13th Birthday gift from us and his Dads' 37th Birthday
gift from us. It was a success, although Paul tells me that another time
we should schedule a bit later in the season. We do plan to do just that.
Michael carne back with a plan that we all save $10.00 a week to make
ready!
So, anyway, Thanks for being so nice to them all.

Good Afternoon Capt. Kelly,
Hope all is well. By the looks of the weather outside today you probably receiving lots of calls and
e-mails!
I was wondering what you had for openings in the next few months.
I have a bachelor party to plan, and a trip for 6 guys aboard your ship is the place to be!
Please let me know.
Also there are multiple trips I plan to book this year so if you could let me know the best times for
some BIG TUNA and some Sharks I would be ever so grateful!
I enjoyed both times I have been aboard you ship and I plan to give you all my fishing business
this year. I have only been on a dozen or so charters but NO ONE put us on the fish like you.
Hope to here from you soon.
And Thanks in Advance
Rich

Dear Capt. Kelly,
Thank you so much for such a wonderful trip you gave my husband Mark .They all had a wonderful
time and the video of the sharks was awesome! They were all raving about what a great time it was (even the
one with the hanq over). Thanks again!
Sincerely, Allice
Late report, but was worth waiting for the photo proof. Here goes without any.
Went out Wednesday with Capt. Kelly Smith aboard the C~Devil II, accompanied by Steve
Currier and Chris (?).
We were in search of tuna on the fly.
Capt. Smith had called me the night before with the old story "you should have been with me
last week", but I had high hopes for our day.
For anyone who has not fished with Kelly, he has a very nice sportfisherman that we were able
to have 2 rods working at a time. After a fish the 3 rod cycles into the mix.
Once we got to the fishing grounds, the good captain marked fish at 25' to 30' and jigged one
up with a diamond jig to see if the others would come up shallower. The others refused the
invitation so started the chum line. Bang, a fish on my new Cape Fear 14wt, and after a short
but tough fight, boated my first tuna, a bluefin of about 121bs.
Steve was next into the fray with something we never got to see. A short while later he
dropped another after having it abuse him.
I got back on the stern with my 11wt, another virgin rod I had hopes of deflowering on this trip.
after trying the 450gr Teeny line I had on it without success, I replaced that line with a spare
600gr Rio tuna line and bang, another tuna. After that one was returned to become a giant,
Steve got (finally) his first fish to the boat. A BIG fat albert rewarded him for his fine fish
handling skills.
At one point the fish came to the surface into the chum line and provided some very
entertaining sights. I tried to dead drift my fly on a 500gr Intermediate line amongst the real
stuff, but without success. Back to the heavy sinking line and again, bang. This time it was a
big Bonito. Nice bend in my 14wt.
At this point it was time to rest and feed myself whilst giving to others a chance to catch up>
Just before we were to head back, Chris asked me if I wanted back on a rod, as he had had
enough. Well, you can probably guess what happened next. Fish On. Another Bonito on my
11wt.
Final score for me: 2 tuna and 2 bonito. 2 each on both of my rods. Steve: 1 bonito.
The only difference I can point to in my success (other than my innate angling skill :», was my
use of a special line made by Rio. 600gr head attached to an intermediate running line. All
50lb test. This line let me keep my fly deeper and in the strike zone. Tippets were 20lb flouro,
ad the captain had seen evidence earlier in the week that the fish were leader shy, even with
the flouro.

Dear Kelly:
Thank you for a wonderful trip! We all had a blast and you and Ed are first rate!
Enclosed is an XL shirt for you and a L for your wife. Also enclosed are some new 3"
Baby Bunkers for you and Lynn to try. They should do well on the bonito and albies on
light tackle. I am curious to see how they do on the bluefins. I know they take bass,
blues and weaks! I am so sorry I left my pieces in the hotel. I would have loved to try
them as I did so well with jigging. I would have liked to try my lures! Next time! I am
going to bring a spinning rod as well. Will that be okay?
I'll talk to you soon about a possible blackfish trip this fall. If not this fall, what do you
catch in April up there? Cod? Flounder? Blackfish? Please let me know. Thanks
again!

Headed out of Point Judith 5:00am with Joe Canz, Dick Trembly, Bruce Marino, and yours truely on the C-Devil
II with Captain Kelly Smith and mate. Nice 32' Topaz. Went about 15 miles south of Block Island with one
purpose-Blue Fin Tuna on the fly. Well, we were not disappointed. Put tuna on the the boat with Bruce taking the
honors of largest fish. All the tuna were taken on Bruce's Wounded Butterfish pattern. The fly is a killer. He will be
at North Cove Saturday tying it. What a blast we had, non stop banter, good food, flat seas, no wind, and bright
sun.
Want to thank Kelly and his mate for a great day. The 4 of us will see you again next year!!!

Im not sure if you received the message i left on your voice mail. This is Mark Sanderson (the guy in the wheelchair) I
wanted to just thank you and Pete again. That was the best fishing trip I have ever been on and both of you did an awesome
job! I am on a some what limited income and wish I had a more money to tip Pete. Unfortunately the guy Keith we fished
with didnt tip him right away. That you had to come over and say something was embarrassing. I dont know him and
after that will never book any trip if he is involved. I will definitely recommend you to all my friends! You and Pete were
very professional and did a hell of a job! Thanks again!
